Contemplative, individual, slowly embossed marks tracing moving light and shadow.
Through the slow, contemplative hand embossing of individual marks, this series of leather drawings captures imprints; suggestions of the landscape. The lines of embossed dots follow or echo a 'line' or a 'trace', reminiscent of tiny scars; as imprints of the landscape frozen in time.
The lines are almost invisible in certain light and reveal when viewed at different angles; Charlotte enjoys this changeable nature, just as perhaps the seasons change or the tide washes in and out with its rhythmic dedication. The dynamic nature means the work ‘lives’ within the space it is homed in; where it is placed, the sunlight, the shadows. It takes on yet another layer, another dynamic.
